How to Track Status of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from Public Financial Management System (PFMS)

The Public Financial Management System (PFMS) is a comprehensive online platform that facilitates various financial management functions, including:

- Payments and Exchequer Control

- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

- Monitoring fund flow mechanisms

- Accounting of Receipts (Tax and Non-Tax)

- Compilation of Accounts and Preparation of Fiscal Reports

- Dissemination of Information

PFMS has established interfaces with financial management systems of states, banks, and other external systems, ensuring seamless integration and data exchange. As a robust web-based system, PFMS provides end-to-end digital payment modules, collection of receipts, accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

Additionally, PFMS offers a robust IT platform for effective cash management in the Government of India (GoI) through:

- "Just in time" transfer of funds

- Complete tracking of fund realization from release to credit into beneficiaries' bank accounts

This ensures efficient and transparent financial management, enabling the government to make informed decisions and improve overall fiscal management.

The Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme was announced by the Government of India for implementation starting January 1, 2013. The PFMS (Public Financial Management System) has been made mandatory for payment, accounting, and reporting under DBT, effective April 1, 2015.
